Paul LaRose: Fostering the Vulnerable
We hosted our third Q Commons Seattle last week and it was an amazing night. Os Guinness started it off from the national site, and then our local speakers presented on the topics of foster care, Christian and Muslim relations and school partnerships. It was such a great night that we are going to share videos from the local presentations with you.
First up was Paul LaRose who is the Senior Director of Specialized Ministries at Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission and has served as a Therapeutic Foster Parent, Youth Pastor, Foster Care Trainer. During their time as therapeutic foster parents, he and his wife specialized in caring for children that would otherwise be sent to Residential Treatment Centers and Psychiatric Hospitals. Their method of stabilizing the emotions and behaviors of high level of care children while creating a trauma informed therapy network quickly caught the attention of service providers. Paul began conducting trainings and sharing methods to other therapeutic foster homes. As a youth worker Paul has been influential in developing kids programs for churches and other non-profit organizations.
Thanks to Michael D. Thomas for filming our presenters!
